Re: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

This was my thought as well, though personally I'm having a hard time visualizing what this looks like in its entirety (even with the additional renders) and find the disembodied arms more than a...

Re: Downtown Crossing

Oh good, we're each going to opine upon what we believe qualifies as a theater. This is sure to be an insightful and enriching discussion.

The lack of restaurants is odd. All'aperto* dining on a...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I'm guessing this was posted, but I don't remember seeing it. As of July 31st:

Re: Kenmore Square North

Flood of good responses, but this is the one I would have asked. Seriously, I'd love to see a list because I'd love to see the buildings.

I'm not seeing any kicking and screaming, but rather a...

Re: Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

I was hoping they would remove the north side garage entrance. I know it's convenient for those parking to have an entrance/exit on both sides, but this area hostile to pedestrians despite its high...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Maybe not the right place for this, but a couple related question: What is the ridership of the commuter rail for non-commuting? Also, what percentage of commuter rail riders own cars?

I imagined...

Re: Downtown Crossing

Thanks.

I would literally prefer a parking lot to this building. At least it would expose the courthouse.

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

I've never seen the inside of the Wynn hotels in Vegas, but this looks a lot like the Bellagio inside.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

This is pretty harsh. While I would have very much preferred all dark cladding, you can put me in the camp that likes the stilts and probably the notch.

Re: 5 Middlesex Avenue | Assembly Square | Somerville

lol

Seriously though, this is less than three syllables? Can we get a phonetic pronunciation?

'zem-blee?

Should be easy to remember. It's down until we have a use for it though.

A Quick Reminder Regarding Moderation

I've noticed quite a few requests recently in regards to marking threads complete/under-construction. I understand the desire to keep the forums accurate and organized, but please remember that when...

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Obviously. We have been fighting against the Needhamization of Boston for a long time now.

The "Council of Tall Buildings," huh? You have a wild imagination, man. That is far to silly to be a...

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

That is an opinion, but if you insist, I'm going to go ahead and count the antenna as a separate building. The Pru's antenna is the tallest building in Boston.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

If they're looking at finishing 3 years from now, where does that put the start date? How long does it take just to build the tower portion? That seems like a lot of time for things to change, but...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Just dislike the sign. Probably a quick photoshop. Not a big deal.

Not a big fan of the large 100 screen either while we're on the subject and nitpicking.

More importantly, Gensler still has...

Re: Downtown Crossing

Huge improvement. Anyone know the story on the corner column? Was it burried in there? Recovered from somewhere else? Doesn't seem to fit, but I'm not complaining.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Now I have a headache.

My point was that despite being a single development, on a single lot, built at one time, and despite behind a similar length to the three buildings across the street, the...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

A reminder of what this is supposed to look like. The dark color should help tie in the V braces.

Hopefully the Rapid7 sign is just mockup marketing (if they're even still attached).

Re: What was Boston like in the [recent] past?

I will grudgingly admit that the mass pike possibly did help to jump start reinvestment.

I wouldn't really consider anything else you listed to be "urban renewal." This all just standard growth...

Re: What was Boston like in the [recent] past?

Is there any evidence supporting this? It has been my impression that cities have crawled their way back despite these measures, rather than because of them.
