Re: Tweaking the Silver Line

Well it may amount to nothing, but they are actually going to pilot the Silver Line to Ted Williams via the Statie ramp next week.

Re: Fantasy T maps

Did you watch it? He paid thousands of dollars in royalties to the Koch Brothers, I doubt very much he had money left in the budget for some anonymous guy on Redit.

Re: Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower (GCG Phase I) | 50 Sudbury St | Gov't Center

Okay, I'll say one more thing, but then let's get back to the topic. Yes, of course California has some problems. Every state does. I simply meant to point out that it's not the disastrous shithole...

Re: Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower (GCG Phase I) | 50 Sudbury St | Gov't Center

I always have to laugh at the conservative messaging about California. They just can't take the possibility that it is a successful place despite repudiating most of their treasured dogma. I spend a...

Re: Fantasy T maps

For a Blue Line extension, I've always liked the idea of crossing the river to hit Kendal, then swinging West to use the Grand Junction to hit BU, then follow the Worcester Line ROW to serve...

Re: Redevelopment of Symphony Huntington Properties

Yes, this is a concern, but at the same time, this area could use some more density. It's a tough thing to balance. I would definitely miss the Persian place, Moby Dick of Boston, for example.

Re: Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

Gorgeous indeed, thanks for the pics! I did a Harbor Walk bike ride a few weeks ago, from Neponset to Castle Island, then cut across on Summer St., specifically because I wanted to check out the Pier...

Re: Logan Airport Capital Projects

It's interesting the extent to which this and so much more about Logan has changed. When I first came to Boston, 31 years ago, Logan was a collection of sad and dreary buildings and wholy unsuited as...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Regarding the (B) building, I think it was going to get a facadectomy, but the facade was no longer structurally sound by the time Millenium took over. At least that's kind of what shows up in the...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I agree with you. I never really spent any time in Winthrop Square, other than passing through on my way to somewhere else, but it always struck me as dark and unwelcoming. I like the idea of...

Re: Kindred Care hospital redevelopment

This looks fantastic. Along with all the other planned residential construction in this area, it might finally start to feel like a more cohesive neighborhood.

Yes, my experience, too. I lived...

Re: Fort Point

Those of us who want speed still have the option of riding in the street. For example, I generally prefer the parking protected lane on Columbus, but if there are a lot of cyclists in it, I'll opt...

Re: Fort Point

You'd think green paint would help, but other places where it has been used, such as Mass Ave. opposite the CS complex, pedestrians still hang out in the bike lane. I think the only thing that really...

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Wow, unnecessarily harsh.

By the way, I like all of the pictures people post, whether or not they cater to my own specific interests. Keep them coming, but let's try to be civil when it comes to...

Re: Logan Airport Capital Projects

There used to be a terminal D. It was kind of funky, smallish, and in the way when they decided to expand terminal C. Although it might seem to have made sense to rename Terminal E at that juncture,...

Re: Aerials

Hi, welcome to the forum, and thanks for the pictures!

I can see my neighborhood in this one (and my house I suppose, if I could zoom in far enough)!

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

I was just there and rode two different RER systems (B & C). C did feature double deck cars, though B did not. In both cases, the cars were configured as 2x2 seating and had wide doors at both ends...

Re: Tremont Crossing | Roxbury

Probably a bit of both. It is very much off the radar for most people, tucked in behind project housing. Few people have any reason to go down that street and wouldn't know this building exists. It...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Also, that's three extra elevators which seem to cost a ridiculous amount of money.

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

The minimum bets are always too high at stand alone casinos for the casual gambler. I like black jack but I'm not so good at it that I can count on winning or breaking even. A $25 minimum effectively...

Re: Memorial Drive Greenway Phase III

These are not the final lines, just markings by the engineers to instruct the paint crew on how to place the permanent lines. This is pretty standard anywhere that the striping involves things like...

Re: South Bay Center Expansion | Dorchester

There is a lot of potential for adjacent areas, too, if this style continues. South Bay could open up thousands of new residences.

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

This is why the focus needs to be on an incremental approach, such as the method described in the TransitMatters white paper. There is no reason we can't start with alternative one and through phases...

Re: South Bay Center Expansion | Dorchester

I think the mishmash is a feature, not a bug.
