Re: City Hall - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

There aren't many parking spaces down there. Most of space that is close to ground level on Congress St is offices space now. Not sure if the floor is at street level... which could be the issue...

Re: City Hall - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

Here here... I'd say most of the ground level brick walls can and should go. Open it up on Congress AND on the Plaza.

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

You Just need to make a direct connection from Rt 1 to Rt 107 (like was planned decades ago and the ramps are stub ended at Rt60 already.) And then you need to run a road along the remaining GE...

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Which is why Wynn has to decide how much it is worth to the casino and his other real estate investments in the area... since this wasn't a condition of the casino commission this is about ROI.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Wynn was already planning on chipping in which means casino customers will be paying their share with their gambling. The question is how much.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Personally I prefer making a level pedestrian/bike connection over the Amelia Earheart Dam with some pedestrian draw bridges. It is preferable for people walking/biking under their own power not to...

Re: Why Boston rents are so high.

Really need to eliminate elected planning boards in this state, at least for special permit approvals. They don't actually do much "planning" and end up just being a bottleneck for special permits...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Well, I am just being about as dumb as the state is in suggesting 2040 (basically saying never). It just isn't worth it to spend hundreds of millions extra in today's state and federal money if...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Waiting for 2040 because of Harvard sounds like something to get BU back on board with their ten million rather than a serious proposal. It is going to be much more expensive to do it later (not to...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

I think this project, as it has been ball-parked, is a pretty obvious yes decision without even getting into the nitty gritty of the numbers. This is basically going to be the next Kendall Square in...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Also, the pedestrian connections need to fit... and it looks like the plan/option was for a pedestrian connection with ramp at the end of Malvern and a station entrance with elevators and stairs at...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Same thing... hopefully in the planning they are maintaining room for two tracks when they rebuild the connection to GJ.

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Did anyone ever post the Massachusetts' HQ2 proposal: Massachusetts HQ2 Proposal (https://www.mass.gov/hq2/)

I think between the State, City of Boston and Somerville's proposals all the potential...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

What would eminent domain cost? Like a thousand bucks? Looks like at most a taking of a few slivers of land.

Also, there would need to be pedestrian connections at least for West Station so...

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Actually... the facade is different than Vegas. Vegas they have the horizontal white every two floors, but here it will be between every floor.

A bit of an illusion to make the Wynn Boston...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

So to summarize... it seems there is agreement on adding a connection for a bus route.

Since BU backed out of the agreement to help pay for West Station their condition should be eliminated as a...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Aimless ambition is merely avarice. Since unbridled ambition resulted in the near nuclear destruction of large swaths of Boston in the 1950s and 1960s I think Boston's ambition has been tempered...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Boston lost the Olympics 20 years ago when Menino and Kraft couldn't work out a stadium deal leaving Boston proper without a large open air privately financed stadium.

Likewise HQ2 will be won or...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Based on 50,000 it should be downtown Boston and served by multiple different T/commuter rail lines and not just trying to add all 50,000 people to the middle of the Blue line.

North Station,...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Just thinking this through a bit... i wonder if you could avoid some or all of the wetland/waterway fill by moving the tracks onto BU property more. Take the surface road behind Agganis Arena and...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

I see it in both places. Just can't fit it all in there at ground level without widening the land area at the narrowest point just a bit.

As much as the waterways and wetlands stuff would...

Re: Winthrop Square Garage Being Demolished

The FAA height issue is the first height hurdle which brings this down to 700 feet and the next is going to be the shadows which could knock it back further depending on what the new design shows.

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Was just reading through that... looking at page 17 I think they were including a lot of extra environmental permitting cost because they would have to fill in some of the Charles to make room to do...

Re: "Midtown"/Widett Circle in a non-Olympics Boston

A much better long term plan would be to realign I93 along the tracks similar to the plan for Beacon Yards in Alston. Instead of 50 isolated acres in need of major infrastructure and in need of...
