Re: North End Piazza on The Greenway | 198 Hanover Street | North End

I don't think a building should be there. I like the scale and massing of the proposed building as is. I think this area in front (they're literally calling it a piazza!) should be a vibrant...

Re: North-South Rail Link

Don't worry, this is exactly how I saw it. Plenty of others did too. The presentation was specifically curated to boost the pointless SSX and kill NSRL. Thankfully, Joe Aiello was not falling for it.

Re: Logan Airport Capital Projects

The garage drop off phase is really messy. It is very far away and requires going up to the bridge level and walking across and then taking elevators down into the terminal. It's really not viable...

Re: North-South Rail Link

TransitMatters will be responding to the NSRL feasibility study. We believe there are significant flaws and cost inflations. I will post here when we publish our piece.

Re: Retail Development | 198 Hanover Street | North End

That's a different parcel (it's the one directly next to this one across Salem St) but it's the same "street" that is allegedly "closed to cars." Apparently this part in front of Petes is open to...

Re: Retail Development | 198 Hanover Street | North End

Yeah but if you're rethinking this area, you have an opportunity to work with the city to say "this should be space for people."

I can see how my response made it sound like it was a plaza being...

Re: Retail Development | 198 Hanover Street | North End

This is an insane ceding of public plaza space to cars. There is 0 reason for this driveway made out of bollards. People will still valet their cars at the real curb if you make this a true plaza....

Also, people, we are not debating that politics has no relation to development. We're debating the fact that political rants shouldn't be...

Re: Open Thread

I'd highly recommend stopping to check out the CCA - Canadian Centre for Architecture. It's a great architecture museum with rotating exhibits. My friends and I very much enjoyed the bookstore too.

1.) Yes he does.

2.) This is not the open thread or a "blog" for you to write your absurd musings. This is a thread dedicated to requesting updates on projects.

3.) STFU

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

Jay Monty, Everett's Transportation Engineer and mastermind behind the bus lane, said at our Beer & Transit that the City is about to take those two spots to build a bus platform there. Those two...

Re: Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

The building is so small that they're using an oversized core to act as the shear walls:

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

We're struggling with this in Everett too. The afternoon outbound traffic on Upper Broadway is awful, often worse than the morning inbound traffic that has the IB morning peak bus lane. I frequently...

This write-up is nothing short of fascinating, but damn, this pretty much applies to any architect (just swap out the name) and perfectly demonstrates what's been wrong with our profession for almost...

Re: One Bromfield | 1 Bromfield Street | Downtown

I use Bromfield daily too. The point is that Bromfield deserves BETTER than what is there now and the One Bromfield proposal was not better - in fact it made Bromfield into its driveway, offered no...

Re: MassMutual | 10 Fan Pier Blvd | Fan Pier Parcel E | Seaport

Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed the ICA to fit in with the Seaport Square & Fan Pier master plans. They designed it with this kind of build out in mind. The ICA is fine.

Re: 10 Fan Pier Blvd | Fan Pier Parcel E | Seaport

I had considered flagging it for merging, but it would bump the actual proposal and project information down from the OP in this thread which has the appropriate title and information.

Edit: I...

Re: 10 Fan Pier Blvd | Fan Pier Parcel E | Seaport

Not as uncommon as you'd think. These curves are becoming an Elkus trope - they appear on every one of their projects. Also, 121 Seaport Blvd is nearby too (by CBT).
