Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Van,
Thanks for the great article on the MBTA graphics. I think they are near perfect for the transit system. The only regret is that not enough of the pre-T graphics were preserved off-site. ...

I thought it was work on the Red-Blue Connector, LOL.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Nice brickwork. Brick panels suck, but they've done a great job masking the seams as much as possible.

Re: Official City Hall Plaza Proposals

Looks like weeds growing on a post-apocalyptic hellscape. LOL, just thought I'd say how I really feel. Really.

Re: Downtown Crossing

A waste of money. It needs to be demolished and replaced with something more suitably sited and designed: a couple of supertalls with a gap to open up a street to the courthouse.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Nice photo, but the white street lights and poles are horrible. The tall ones along the street edges and the short ones along the bikeway all look like suburban subdivision street lights. Even...

Re: Flickr Finds

Why not serve both functions: sunlight entry and aesthetics? I could see a headhouse similar to the one in old Adams Square pictured above, but with a glass roof on all three roofs, and without...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I think the multi-building style complements well the line of old and diverse buildings across Causeway Street.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Damn fine looking development; better than the renderings would have indicated.

Re: What was Boston like in the [recent] past?

I remember reading articles in the Boston Globe at the time the old West End was being replaced by Charles River Park in the mid 1960's. Charles River Park's intent was to bring back suburbanites,...

Re: What was Boston like in the [recent] past?

I'm 68 and remember Boston of the late 1960's very well. I used to work summers while in high school at the old 125 High Street Travelers Insurance Building at Cabot Corporation, a program that...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

It may not be "blight", but it is a massive, misplaced ugly scar on the face of the city.

So, I agree with the the spirit of odurandina's comment.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I was doodling the other day, and this one reminds me of the Hub on Causeway, in a good way:

Re: Boston - Most Embarrassing Blight That Tourists See

Re: Parcel 9 - The Greenway

The look (except for the glass ground floor) is Harvard Square-ish. But, as people say, it's decent and fills in the gap nicely.

Re: Boston (née New Brighton) Landing | New Balance Complex | Brighton

That last photo is oddly reminiscent of Boston City Hall, which is not a good thing. The wood-like base looks sloppy and temporary, adding to the mishmash of styles and materials.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Until they come up with a revenue stream for transit improvements/expansion, I don't see a lot of significant actions. An obvious revenue source would be tolling the expressways inside Route...
