Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Does a lot of that have to do with the value of land in Boston vs New York though? As in the payoff to do a complicated project is much higher in NYC than it is in Boston so there's less trepidation...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

No worries keep fighting the good fight.

Regarding Boston's office space/new skyscrapers I was under the impression that a lot of expansion to meet demand is being filled by the Seaport buildout....

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Excellent job stick. The money shot is the ground view with the building rising up behind South Station. Very nice addition to the skyline. NIMBY's gotta NIMBY I guess but one would assume the...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I would say Boston is getting out from a culture of brainless NIMBYism left over from the 70 and 80's. Its taking awhile, its way slower than it should be, but its a vast improvement from previous...

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

? - Where is south station going? If you don't build above south station, you are losing millions in tax revenue for a needless delay revolving around a project (SSX) who's start date isn't even...

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Have you done the commute at any time in the last 10 years? IT ALREADY SUCKS! You're acting like the T has the reliability of the Paris metro or something. Between the random delays because half...

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Waiting for the SSX to happen in order to build this is freakin' absurd. You want to piss away millions in tax revenue waiting for an event to happen that doesn't even have a start date in sight,...

Re: MBTA is pushed to study air rights development at Cabot Yard

I think a better question than decking over the facilities is are the making efficient use of all of the land. When I lived in Davis Square there's a barn for the trackless trollies up Mass Ave in...

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

Pretty much. City has a housing crisis not a soccer stadium crisis. I can't think of a large parcel of land that I wouldn't rather see housing on at this point. Unfortunately for Kraft he missed...

Re: Amazon HQ2 selected - and not Boston

Amazon also picked the one place where they have the least amount of leverage. Anywhere else and 25K jobs is a huge impact. In NYC its a drop in the bucket. I wasn't surprised they chose NYC...

Re: General Infrastructure

Interesting study and an even handed article which discussed the different traffic measurements. If Boston is the 6th largest CSA in the country, it would stand to reason that it would be in a...

Re: Temporary Habor Garage discussion thread until project is officially launched

Two things happened with the IMAX as best I can recall. First is that waterfront groups didn't push the issue too hard because the NEAQ said the project was vital to their survival. Nobody wanted to...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

It's all about full disclosure. Do you have an angle to support or oppose a project that has nothing to do with its merits or lack thereof. If you see me at every meeting cheering every single...

Condolences on the loss of your turtle. Don should be held accountable for that.

Why should Chiofaro negotiate against himself? I wouldn't. Keep making a PROFIT (which we already...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Lets take 'em one at a time.

1) You have to properly assess the activists motivations, which I feel often doesn't get a proper vetting. Some people may care strenuously about ticky tack...

Re: Amazon HQ2 selected - and not Boston

Agree that this is probably a negotiating tactic. What exactly was the tax package the city and state were offering in New York?

I know. The point being that if you stumble ass backwards into a good outcome that you never intended it doesn't make you a genius.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Shirley Kressel's goal in life is to shut down all development higher than a tree and get her name in the paper. The woman is a loon. I used to like getting into it with her in the comments section...

Re: Temporary Habor Garage discussion thread until project is officially launched

Just curious since you seem to be in the know on such issues:

How much did the NEAQ pay the city for blocking the view to the harbor with the IMAX theatre?

Also, did Don run over your dog or...

Re: Temporary Habor Garage discussion thread until project is officially launched

In the NEAQ's defense Rifleman we need to check Amos Hostetter's bank accounts first. I'm guessing there was a check written in his name for $420K somewhere in there which coincidentally is for the...

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

Silly Rifleman. How else are they going to expand the IMAX Theatre if they can't take over the garage property? Since they have a blank check from the very citizens groups that are supposed to be...
