Re: Massport Parcel A2 | Seaport

600ksf is large enough that I'd bet they use the overhang for the main office- the triangle parcel is separate (where the current 399 congress offices are)

Re: Massport Parcel A2 | Seaport

What Equilibria said. The lasts thing the Seaport needs is more hardscape plazas and broken streetwalls. The PNF will be much more informative however

Re: Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

That's a crazy rate of development- JK, EF G and possibly H is ~1.5msf of spec office, plus however many residential buildings they decide to move on.

Re: Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Agreed- really appreciate the detailed updates, and even if I have some complaints about height, the overall project is still a huge plus

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Wrong- read my post again and note the word inflation. T fares have grown faster than inflation and much faster than any form of road tax. There are plentiful studies and papers demonstrating real...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Pike tolls aren't indexed to inflation and fall. The gas tax isn't indexed to inflation and falls. Sales taxes are general so citing them about anything specific proves too much. Inspection and...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

110% agree. The additional residents in this (and Avalon NS, and the Garden Garage, etc.) will make picking up groceries easier for thousands of commuters each day. This type of commercial clustering...

Re: NEMA Boston | 399 Congress St. | Seaport

VE is a massive positive for the community as a whole. If only projects with A+ materials and design got built, housing prices would be ever higher than they are now. Anything that lowers the...

Re: South Station Tower

I’m worried about the “value engineering to reduce MBTA costs” part. That’s a workabl pretext for permanently blocking the bus station expansion

Don’t forget Hub on Causeway Phase 3, which has to start next year to meet the stated move-in date of 2021

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The tunnel itself was already fixed in size, so the test is if the entrance is big enough to "fill" the tunnel. The great hall does provide better overflow capacity than the existing side entrances.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

This article is mostly a press release, but it does say the food hall (“the city’s largest”) will be open to the train concourse....

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Name is dumb, project is still great, I wish they’d pull their construction permit so Boston doesn’t miss its units approved goal for the 2nd quarter in a row

Re: North Station, Charles River Draw, & Tower A

Update from someone who knows: it does *not* foul the current plans for track 11-12. Its removal may be required for future platform lengthening.

Re: North Station, Charles River Draw, & Tower A

Unless I'm misreading Obda, he's proposing adding supports for air rights over the North Station tracks (including the new 11/12). Seems reasonable to me, although the Spaulding parking lots will get...

Re: Parcel K | Northern Avenue | Seaport

Great pics, BeeLine!

Agreed. Lots of boring buildings that provide housing/retail/hotel next to transit are the best feature of this cycle.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The post-2006 North Station concourse is a rare example of transit infrastructure getting better. All the previous waiting rooms look much smaller even with the current retail.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

No real opinion on the art, but the Seaport Blvd rebuild did the best it could without shrinking the road. Hopefully something similar happens to Congress, which is worse both in width and in...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

There are several surface lots in the Triangle that will hopefully be redeveloped. Going through a full BPDA approval process for some of the smaller lots probably isn't feasible though.
