Re: Parcel P-12 | 286-290 Tremont St | Chinatown

Sigh...

It can't because...

1. The FAA height limit for this site is ~850ft.
2. Boston Common shadow laws that must be abided by.

Also...

3. The Double Tree is a really nice pre-War...

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Losing Copley sucks not so much because of the tower (it was a nice design), but because it was a chance to fix the front of Copley Place which has a very lacklust suburban feeling mall front (set...

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Yep if I recall the state tried to pull a fast one here and developers rightly stayed away. They weren't allowing bidders to assess the potential environmental situation and then bid based on the...

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Only sevens years from announcement to start of construction and probably ten by the time it's all wrapped up.

Re: Open Thread

Perfect Dark was a masterpiece. It really needs a proper sequel. Zero was garbage.

Re: Marine Wharf (Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites) | 660 Summer St | Seaport

The renders on the fencing look considerably duller, you sure those are the most recent?

Re: Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower (GCG Phase I) | 50 Sudbury St | Gov't Center

This building is both fat and ugly. It's also very prominent on the skyline.

Yuck.

Re: Worcester Ballpark & Redev

Compared to 20 years ago I'd say Worcester is much more part of Boston's outer metro. OTOH until Worcester has a steady stream of major projects this stuff should still live in the Worcester thread.

Re: Brutalist Revival

I like brutalist buildings and while they succeed at usually being structurally interesting they're urban fabric killers..., but that can be fixed with money.

Re: Columbus Ave Student Housing | 10 Burke St | Northeastern University

The white is cool, but can architects stop with the offset windows?

Gonna be interesting how they keep the white clean (cynical me: they wont).

Re: Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

This looks really good from the intersection of Tremont and Stuart. Small lot but they pulled off something decent. I wish the ground floor was a bit better activated but that side of the street is...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Interesting I had no idea Wachusett was that big. In 2018 they apparently did 65,000 barrels.

I always thought they were kind of niche to the Central MA market.

Re: MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

Isn't Eastgate getting replaced by a similar height tower?

Re: MXD Residential Tower | 135 Broadway | Kendall Square

I wish Cambridge would get over itself and encourage proper commercial street walls. I hate all these little tiny pocket parks around Kendall. Similar shit is happening with Volpe where all the...

Re: Dorm Tower @ Emerson College | 1-3 Boylston Place | Downtown

Emerson can go fuck itself. I totally agree they're a cancer downtown. They transform everything they touch into safe sterile institutional space.

Re: Downtown Crossing

Having worked in a WeWork I found it to be an awful experience. Little privacy (glass walled offices) and poor sound insolation.

They're trendy and cheap (in many scenarios) right now. It's...

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

No, it was one of the proposed designs for Winthrop Square. Previous poster was wish-casting. It's not an officially proposed tower.

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Deserves its own thread, though, if they're only just considering it I wouldn't expect activity for another 2 to 3 years.

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

The Revere's not going anywhere. It's ugly, but it prints money. There's no good reason for a facade rework either as nobody is booking or not booking there based on the facade.

Also the renovated...
