Re: Allston Yards (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

Well, if you live too far away from the station to walk, and wanted to get on the commuter rail... but I think it'd be more for Stop and Shop.

Re: West Cambridge (Alewife, Acorn Park, Cambridge Park, Fresh Pond)

That's pretty much par for the course these days. Certainly could have been taller at least.

Because they got a job in Boston, obviously.

Re: Fairmount Line Upgrade

^^^

I was under the impression that nearly the entire ridership of Fairmount Line is based upon the last two stops - Readville and Fairmount, based upon that stunt to make the line free earlier....

Re: North-South Rail Link

What about doing a Red Line branch tunnel? Stop at Aquarium and then North Station. Would be way cheaper I imagine.

Re: North-South Rail Link

So is there a plan to deal with the South Station bottleneck without the NSRL or SSX?

Crazy Transit Pitch - How about building a mini platform in that little alcove near where Gillette is and...

Re: West Cambridge (Alewife, Acorn Park, Cambridge Park, Fresh Pond)

What exactly is it with architects obsession with that, anyway? It feels like it would look more natural if they stuck to one styling.

It being an OK height sort of makes up for it.

Re: North-South Rail Link

Even with the NSRL, the commute time from Scituate to Wakefield would be too long. You would have to move anyway.

Do think North Side riders would definitely continue on, since there's no...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

That's impressive that South Attleboro is filling up that easily. It's a pretty big lot, and you're talking $330/month plus the now higher parking fees.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

On Recreation Road? That would be a tough sell that it would be worth it compared to what's there now.

There are tracks at Riverside which connect into the Worcester Line but would need...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

It's a mile and a half, anything closer that isn't Riverside just isn't feasible. You could run Commuter Rail trains from Riverside as mentioned if they wanted to.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Wellesley Farms really isn't that bad from 128. It would be a pain from the Pike given that you would have to get on 128 first even though it'd be only one exit. Anything more convenient would...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Alewife to $10... ouch. That'll probably get people to drive in to Cambridge more.

Auburndale's parking lot is tiny. People there could easily drive to Riverside or Wellesley Farms, but chose not...

Re: North-South Rail Link

To me it looks like they are claiming the $4.7B figure is in 2028 dollars. Didn't look at the entire slide deck though.

Re: North-South Rail Link

But it's not going to be built in 2018, it's going to be built in 2028 (or whenever). So the cost in 2028 is what matters.

Don't like that the CA 2-track tunnel is only for the Back Bay stations....

Re: Bus service to Newton commuter rail stops

Which is why Indigo should be the priority, and commuter rail second. If you removed the Newton stops and BL off of the commuter rail and onto Indigo you might be able to get away with reducing...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I guess when reading the article they made it sound like people would use that for daily commuting purposes into NYC, and was like what. Even super commuting as you say it is too far. 4+ hours, and...

Re: New Yorkers want to move to Boston

I should point out that for the longest time Redfin did not support Manhattan. Seems like that changed only in the last year but if you used Redfin in the past to search there you might not have...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

No numbers, but you will need to be a bit patient for GenX to move out of the burbs. By burbs I mean outside of 128. Don't know how millennial/(what's after millennials?) would be able to live there...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

At the same time the population in the burbs should be decreasing, give it another 5-10 more years to be more obvious. So while the population of Boston is going to continue to grow the actual...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Dumb question about the Newton stops. Do they have to build the high level platforms to be considered accessible? It just dawned on me that might be the case.
