Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

The green is gone?!? This project went from awesome to slightly above mediocre.

Re: City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

No. Tear it down. Tear Center Plaza down. Tear the State Service Center down. And tear the JFK down (yup, I went there) or at least fix it so it doesn't look like a tribute to the space shuttle.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

For aesthetics. The flat top doesn't look good, sorry.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Its still a great building/project even at the reduced height.

But....downtown really does need a peak.

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

^ That's the one I've been wondering about. Didn't know its name.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Yikes, some of you people are tough critics. This building is very nice. It’s a new tallest for downtown. And along with the Millennium Tower, it draws your eyes away from the 60’s-70’s building...

Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

They should follow the "plaza over pike" formula with buildings on either side all the way to Kenmore Square, at least.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Hard to believe that anyone would defend the State Service Center. Especially when you consider the great development that's replacing the Congress Street Garage. We could get more of that here.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I’m sure it has its architectural merits, but that’s not enough to justify keeping it. Its ugly; its far, far too large; it cuts off neighborhoods from one another; and the area around it always...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

State Service Center. You could practically build a whole new neighborhood in that turd's footprint.

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Its great that this finally appears to be happening. Maybe the Copley Tower could be revived next.

Woah, that's bold. I hope it happens, but I'm skeptical.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Modernist can be good (John Hancock Tower). Brutalist can also (rarely) be good (Christian Science Plaza). Most of it sucks though. And quite frankly, Boston has way too much of it; its almost...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Its unlikely that it will ever be altered because its a federal building, but it would be great it if was torn down/reclad. It’s the ugliest tower in the city, save for those ugly West End twins.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

They should get rid of the lowrise portion of the JFK and put it up for development. Then build a new more compact lowrise portion at the base, surrounding the towers and fronting the street,...

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

Exactly what I was thinking. There was no saving most of those old buildings in any case. At least the expressway eventually went away. Otherwise, we would have been stuck with more 1 Federal...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

That streetwall looks amazing. If only we could tear down the O'Neill building and get more like this.

Re: Flickr Finds

Early 80's was pretty much the pinnacle of ugliness for the downtown skyline, before some decent looking towers went up.
