Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Homans was found to be structurally unsound maybe three or four years ago and has been gated off since (including the sidewalk). It is a beaut of a building and a shame to lose it, but the GLX folks...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

1 - Sticking out in Everett is both a good thing and not hard to do. Take that Teddy Peanut Butter!

2 - This shouldn't have been and will not be a part of the regional architecture. It is...

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

Reviving the old "Worst Empty Parcel" thread rather than bump a 2012 poll. Here's a rundown of what AB voted for worst empty parcel from 2009 to 2012, both winners and nominees. Note how many are now...

Re: Somerville Developments

The Star Market site in Winter Hill, vacant for 11 years and counting, has a buyer: DLJ Real Estate out of NYC. Same developer wants to build Kendall Square-esque labs in Boynton Yards outside Union...

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I don't know about anyone else, but I live about a mile away from this and though I'm 100% in favor of it, the only thing I'm looking forward to is the Wynn buffet--which is truly, truly a religious...

Re: Biking in Boston

I love paths but this seems a bit cold-fusionish to me. It's a speculative path connecting two as-yet unbuilt and dubiously funded paths.

I have heard work will begin this summer on a new stretch...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

^ Any of us who've worked for large companies can attest that real estate deals don't necessarily all move in tandem with an enterprise-wide strategy. You may have expansion for the Alexa team while...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Nice metrics but practically useless since those numbers are bound by municipal borders.

Miami's municipal area is 55 square miles, while Austin's is 270--about the same size as Chicago and NYC. ...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Yeah, a city's homicide rate is a metric that is largely useful for two groups 1) those closest in proximity to this violence, which predominantly affects young men of color without a college degree;...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

I strongly believe that subsidies are not going to bring Amazon to a city--they need tens of thousands of qualified bodies. This will come down to a city they already have a presence in that they...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Here is one from 2012. Blocks 1-6 are basically the same footprints.

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Lots of tea leaves to read in this largely unseen article:

For the Partners building,

Re: Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Nice! It's bonkers how resistant they have been to this idea. It's a classic broken window concept: build something attractive and useful that people in the community and enjoy and you... have a...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Couple thoughts on this:
1. It looks like the plan will be to complete the "row" to Partners rather than fill out the remainder of Block 5. Both Blocks 5 and 7 now have gaps on the Grand Union sides...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Yes, the park was always in the plans but pretty fuzzy on what it would end up looking like. I've always assumed this would be the eventual home of the Slumbrew beer garden. What's interesting is to...

Re: NorthPoint Cambridge (The one that was train yards, the big plan.)

So this is in addition to the two new buildings currently under construction—but it doesn't say where this first new office building would be. Is Divco not doing those other buildings?
