Re: 128 Widening

Having the frontage roads was a smart move for the Highland Ave exits. Also adding an exit at Kendrick street was smart too. I would have liked to see them add in a frontage road setup for the route...

Re: 128 Widening

The 93/95 interchange in Woburn is flat out awful. Massachusetts seems to be one of the only states where you can have the interchange of 2 major highways and no additional roadway capacity to...

Re: 128 Widening

The whole project is going to be completed in Spring 2019. I am going to assume that's the reason for the 2019 date.

Re: 128 Widening

That would certainly make sense - that's a prime area where the highway needs to be widened to 4 full travel lanes in each direction plus a full breakdown lane in each direction.

Here's a picture of what the whole stretch will look like. Frontage roads of sorts in both...

Re: 128 Widening

If you look at some of the major interchanges in this state, 93/95 in Woburn, 93/95 in Canton, 90/495 in Hopkinton for example, all are poorly laid out and lead to traffic backups. I am not saying we...

Re: 128 Widening

That looks fantastic. A neat and clean interchange that has a much smaller footprint than what we have there now.

You could even have a path and footbridge to Riverside from that CR station.

Re: 128 Widening

I would have just assumed the residents of Weston would prefer the interchange to be rebuilt. You put in flyover ramps for 90 east to 95 north and from 90 west to 95 south and the overall footprint...

Re: 128 Widening

If they blew up the interchange and made it a stacked interchange with flyover ramps you would see a smaller footprint than what currently exists.

Re: 128 Widening

It's only a single weekend and they've given more than 6 weeks notice. Is it ideal? No. But at least they're going to do it all in one shot. I believe the new bridge will be 6 lanes.

My guess is...

Re: 128 Widening

That's unfortunate - a major interchange right in the metro area is in dire need of an upgrade it won't happen before 2020.

The rebuild of the 93/95 interchange in Canton which was supposed to...

Re: 128 Widening

I would rank the 93/95 interchange in Woburn as one of the worst anywhere. The 93/95 interchange in Canton is almost as bad. You also have situations where there are not proper acceleration and...

Re: 128 Widening

They broke ground on the stretch from Great Plain Ave to Route 9 in January of 2015 and the entire stretch is not expected to be done until Spring of 2019 - over 4 years. I always thought that seemed...

Re: 128 Widening

This project started in January 2015. I have a hard time understanding how this stretch of 128 can take 4 plus years to complete and that's assuming there aren't any delays.

Just look at how long...

Re: 128 Widening

The New University Ave exit from SB on 95 is the first phase of the big Canton interchange project. Once they're done with that, and it looks like they might be in the next month or so, they'll move...

Re: 128 Widening

Drove by the Highland Ave/Kendrick area on the way to work this morning and they've really done a lot as far as clearing out trees and bushes. Dirt is being moved around. This area is more active...

Re: 128 Widening

They've shifted traffic along 95 north to the recently finished portion of the bridges crossing 135 and the Charles River. Cleanup of the area between the north and south lanes has begun.

Re: 128 Widening

Wasn't 495 originally built with concrete instead of asphalt?

Re: 128 Widening

I've been out to the Detroit area a couple of times and have wondered why they used concrete for some of their highways.

I just assumed they were waiting for the northbound side overpass to be completed before shifting all of the 109 traffic onto the new overpasses before demolishing the old ones and rebuilding them. ...

Looks like they're starting to make some good progress on the 109 overpass replacement portion of the project. The i-beams have just been laid on the southbound side overpass. It seemed like in the...

Re: 128 Widening

Not sure how often you drive the stretch of 128 where the main work is happening, but it seems like the crews will start work on something, work on it for a couple of weeks and then move onto...
