Re: Dock Square Parking Garage, 20 Clinton Street

Needs at least some ground floor retail, otherwise it perpetuates the "edge of civilization" dead zone out at the Greenway.

In terms of what it is, I like it as rendered. IRL, though, there's so...

Re: Parcel 9 - The Greenway

I think this is one instance where I would have preferred they fill out the entire footprint with elevation (landscraper) but vary the facade every 30'. That would have looked much more dense and...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Maybe we can agree to disagree, but I don't see the Greenway as being a nowhereville. It runs adjacent to very dense parts of the Financial District that don't have as great T access now, and it also...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Just a devil's advocate point about this Gold Line heading to Kendall. Yes, there's a nice high tech industry axis that goes from Kendall to Seaport. But the Red Line reproduces most of that axis...

Re: New Ideas for the Site

Is there a way for threads to be visually tagged when there’s actual news? Maybe designate a thread “hot” or something for a couple of days after real news breaks?

I’m thinking of course of...

Re: North-South Rail Link

To pull from London, "Crossrail" would make a lot of sense - it communicates that it's not just about linking two stations, but enabling transit trips across town like never before.

For Boston,...

This thread confuses me. Are there not enough small general aviation airports around?

Re: Street Name Etymology

I was thinking sequential numbering/lettering, but yes - thanks for pointing out that certain combinations of letters may spell out words or acronyms that trigger people. It's a strange and not...

Re: Street Name Etymology

Maybe it's time to rename all streets as either letters or numbers. Letters and numbers never hurt anyone.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

There's not enough time to check fares between BBY and SST so they functionally don't. On the Providence/Stoughton line, at least, this actually applies out to Ruggles.

Re: Summer St. Gondola

I'd consider 3 connections tolerable if the distances involves were large and the areas covered highly disparate. But the fact going from Copley to the Seaport requires 3 connections is, yes, hellish.

Re: Summer St. Gondola

Sinking another $100M into the SL as it's currently routed would be a colossal waste. To my mind the issue isn't the mode it's the connectivity. Dead-ending at South Station stifles all sorts of...

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

That's not a superblock. The grid here looks finely-scaled, all told. I think you're opposed to the one-building-per-block model?

Re: "Midtown"/Widett Circle in a non-Olympics Boston

Serious questions -

- Aside from the "Access Road" off the 93N frontage road, how will Widett be accessed? Clearly, "Access Road" is completely inadequate

- How could this site be even remotely...

Re: 50 Liberty @ Fan Pier | 50 Liberty Drive | Seaport

^ It is, yes. Actually, the fact that it's a shorter version makes it a lot nicer, in my opinion. And, those glasscrapers in Toronto tend to be woeful at ground level.

Re: SBWTC /South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center | Seaport

Perhaps I'm being overly pedantic, but two quick things -

1) What makes this a "Transportation Center" ...? To my mind, only North Station, South Station, Logan and maybe major bus hubs (Ashmont,...

Re: Brookline Developments

I like option A with the setbacks, looks less monolithic. But I can see an argument for B looking more urban and cohesive.
