Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

Amazon in its solicitation never committed to having 50,000 employees in HQ2. The minimum amount of square feet sought by Amazon for phases I-III was 3.5 million, which really isn't all that much. ...

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

I think it is also a life safety matter. They appear to be building right out to the property line, and without this, the emergency egress would be a leap onto the railroad track.

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

DC would get management of the Cloud. NYC would be my bet for Amazon media (vice LAX) and business partnerships, plus oversight of European / African operations.

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

I doubt it. Given that Amazon seems to be fracturing the whole HQ idea.

I think Boston will be a lead R&D center for future stuff: AI, machine learning, voice recognition, robotics, 'big data',...

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

Amazon in recent years has spent no more than $15 million annually on lobbying Washington.

50,000 employees with an average salary of $100,000 = a payroll of $5 billion.

Talk about a tail...

The WSJ also said "Some also believe Amazon may announce plans to place smaller operations in runner-up locations."

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment

Para 1 is contradicted by Amazon's specs; Amazon was looking for a single property owner.

Part 2, the brilliant part, is contradicted by the great antipathy between POTUS and Bezos. So there will...

I think Boston is stuck with 8-10,000 Amazon employees, minimum, given their space commitments / options in the Seaport, and elsewhere. Amazon currently lists 379 job openings in Boston / Cambridge....

According to BBJ, construction costs for One Dalton are $413 million, for 712,000 gsf of building.

St. Regis is 208,000 gsf, and the financing for construction is $300+ million.
