Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Two things to note after skimming through :

1) Top-down construction! No waiting for a pit to be filled with this one. (should note though - the slurry wall will be 4 feet thick.. May take a while...

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Odds we get the same color glass as MT? I don't know what I'd prefer, matching glass or differing glass. On the one hand, if they do match, they may complement each other rather well. On the other,...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The approach from 93 looks atrocious.

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

Sorry if I'm missing something, but this is a competition, correct? The city is going to choose a few to actually follow through with. Interesting building, nonetheless. I'd love to see it put up.

Re: Building Ideas

My pipe dream with City Hall/Plaza is to:

Remove Center Plaza and 'relocate' the current plaza across the street. You could potentially place a high-rise with a larger/more expansive mid-rise...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Interesting you note that! Assembly/Sommervile/Boston was one of the few cities chosen by Audi for their research on autonomous driving and parking in cities. There's some pretty interesting concepts...

Re: Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower (GCG Phase I) | 50 Sudbury St | Gov't Center

From Twitter: Curtain Wall Mockups (https://twitter.com/BulfinchXing/status/981983957351849984)

Doesn't look too bad, though it will be interesting to see how this plays out across the whole...

Re: Red Line / Blue Line Connector

F-Line didn't immediately dismiss it in the comments, FWIW, though he did say the fill of the former Broad Canal would pose a threat to the feasibility and tweaking the alignment runs the risk of...

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

Any update on the Old Northern Ave Bridge? Seems like the city's not really taking that Coast Guard warning to take the bridge down or the GE incentives that seriously since it's been over 2 years...

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Based off my interpretation of the detailing, this could look really neat depending on the light... Playing of MT and the Hancock at sunset, but with its own distinct look... If those indents make it...

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

Ugh.

Also notes that they are still in the design phase for a new tower. Does anybody know if a winter garden is still a possibility here? I was really looking forward to it...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

You could argue VE for going from the first iteration to the second one but I'm at a loss with this one... Unless there are behind-the-scenes forces (possibly Verizon?) pushing for certain parameters...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Welp.

The least they could've done is rotate the tower 180° so the somewhat interesting roof would be facing 93 and not the blatant box shape they have going on there... I also don't like the...

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Don't get your hopes up too high.
We went over this not too long ago: there is very little chance Phase 2 of Fenway Center is happening. There is very little space for staging, and his finances...

Re: Nominations: ArchBoston best new developments 2013-2017

I like 121, but the proportions, form, and overall design are extremely refined/perfected with 101. Despite it being a box, I think there is still a lot of architectural merit with 101.

121 with...

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2

I was ok with the original Handel design. But this.... this is a mess.

It still angers me that this is what we could've gotten:

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

That's a nice concept/alignment, but Avalon NS comes out a bit further. Can't line the new roads like that.

(Also, nice touch keeping the last tenement)

Re: City Hall - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

That's probably under "Required Repairs," which will cost, in total, $100-$150 million depending on which design scheme they follow through with. That's a separate price tag from the plaza...

Proposed (phased build out):

I believe this is what they're starting off with:

This seems very pricey at full build out....
