Re: Briv

Probably not much initially, but more of a long-term guarantee of hosting, moderation, and maintenance. If this site dies it is clearly the best option. It's more about the avoidance of loss than...

Re: UMass Boston Residence Hall 1 | Columbia Point | Dorchester

I would click "Like" if we had that extension. I guess it's the "upscaling" of every corner of Boston, in a way. Now there's gonna be rich kids from the suburbs just like at almost every college or...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Yeah, there's just a severe lack of any street life, so even though it is a historic city, there's nowhere in the area with that city vibe. Just a bunch of old triple-deckers scattered around filled...

Re: Worcester Improvements

The new apartments downtown on Front Street are semi-complete (one of the two wings looks occupied, some retail opened). The AC Hotel near it seems to be taking forever to finish, maybe the rooms...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Worcester is pretty crappy by Boston standards but by "post-industrial New England medium city" standards it is doing OK. Better than Waterbury and Fall River at least. The public realm is very...

Re: Briv

Well it's based on the amount of user activity. A New Jersey section was set up a few years ago and the NYC section was massively expanded. The quality of discussion isn't much different either. ...

Re: Briv

I mean if it really comes to it, I have enough clout to get a dedicated Boston section set up on SkyscraperCity. I mean, only if there's enough demand for it, which will only happen if this site...

Re: The Beverly (née Merano) (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

Well, that means there's a pretty short list of cities that have matched or exceeded what's going on just in this immediate area. Probably NYC, Toronto, DC, LA, SF, Seattle, maybe a few others, but...

Re: The Beverly (née Merano) (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

This whole area is pretty impressive in a way. The development in this area alone definitely exceeds that of nearly all New England/Northeast/Midwest smaller cities. Of course it's not as perfect...

Re: The Boulevard (née The Times/Littlest Bar) | 110 Broad St | Downtown

I guess it'll look fine and no one will really care too much. Things usually look alright when completed, if not always up to our high standards (for architectural design, historic preservation,...

Re: Allston-Brighton Developments

Well leave the discussion of urbanity (yes, including 5 over 1) to those who want to discuss it. My bad for bringing that up, was a troll moment. Anyway, yeah I remembered something from a while...

Re: Allston-Brighton Developments

This is perfectly contextual for the modern era. It's a little taller than its surroundings but the massing is perfect for the area, mid-rise urban. Nothing like a suburban car-oriented apartment...

Re: Allston-Brighton Developments

Truly one of the nicest urban massings going up today. Totally transforms the feel of the area. DHZ22 had to talk shit about my comment predicting this a while back but whatever, fuck him.

Re: Mixed Use Complex | 345 Harrison Ave | South End

Little red section is fine. Yellow part less so, and I guess I appreciate the effort on the grey part's massing but it just looks off. I'd still live here if I was in the market (I'm guessing their...

Re: MIT New 450-bed Residence Hall | 121 Vassar St. | Cambridge

Trust me, Yale does not care for anything outside its borders lol. I wouldn't go so far as calling New Haven a "sewer". It is rather poor and ghetto overall but it is almost entirely preserved...

Re: Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

Not directly to the sea. Although it is a short walk and there is a "trolley" for those who are afraid of the neighborhood (mix of dilapidated historic houses and many new apartments).

Re: Allston-Brighton Developments

What's so bad about it? It's a little scruffy but rapidly getting redeveloped. With rents over 3k/month, the whole neighborhood should be transformed within a few years (obviously it is, with all...

Re: MY TOP 15 NEW ENGLAND CITIES

Ehh, I'm inclined to agree, but New Haven is pretty nice. Norwalk is improving rapidly too. Also I'd say Massachusetts has nicer suburbs on average, but some individual towns in Fairfield County...

Re: MY TOP 15 NEW ENGLAND CITIES

I'd say it's pretty nice. Definitely the fastest developing city in CT with the most amount of genuinely urban development. Of course the architecture leaves a little to be desired but I think it's...
