Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Really? Architecture has been a reflection of contemporary art, philosophy and human values since the dawn of architecture.

That said. I really hate that transportation has been so fetishized...

Re: The next BIG skyscraper to BLOCK

Manhattan wouldn't be the Manhattan of today without the 800+ acres of central park.

Boston can afford to try to keep shadows off its 100 acres in the middle of the city. A city is defined by...

Re: Arsenal Yards | Arsenal Mall Redevelopment | Watertown

If it is being driven by reducing costs compared to traditional facades like brick, stone or even precast panels, then that is fine with me. I just hope nobody is doing this type of architecture...

Re: Arsenal Yards | Arsenal Mall Redevelopment | Watertown

Don't want people mistakenly walking along the waterfront which would interfere with their shopping while taking up valuable parking spaces.

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Well I think the referenced story and recent other stories are more along the lines of rumors and leaks that Amazons people are on the ground doing due diligence at various locations and trying to...

Re: Parcel I | Cambridge Crossing | East Cambridge

Well I think the point is that it was somewhat of the opposite of that situation because there is less of an established neighborhood to deal with.

Re: Parcel I | Cambridge Crossing | East Cambridge

In this case they did a reasonably good job having that park open to the South to avoid shadows so it isn't that. It is just Cambridge not wanting to go tall apparently.

Not that the developers...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Looks like the "quality of materials" are all from the older buildings which they thankfully are keeping. Not bad, but it would have been better with a hotel tower that people could actually see is...

Re: Kenmore Square North

As seems to be a general consensus, at the very least the facade of that corner building is worth preserving compared to the options we have seen.

And to my thinking it would be better to...

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Cool pictures. Would be interested to see the view towards the city from the tower. It has been a question of how the city skyline view would be from the hotel rooms.

The view of the river is...

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Just fill in and landscape about two hundred feet of ocean in the areas between the piers right along Seaport Blvd and Northern Ave with some resilient landscaping as you suggest to provide more...

Re: Pier 4 Condo Building (Former Anthony's site) | Seaport

+1 But what if instead of hanging from a wire we could give "the gondola" wheels and tracks to run on.

Really though... I thought the brain trust was settled on just using some fraction of that...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

No place did I say put up a barrier to the free flow of capital across state lines. We should just have clear metrics about which companies are actually a net benefit to the economy and could decide...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Yup, but simpler models are often more useful. And more importantly the Department of Revenue has visibility into the revenue and payrolls of Massachusetts companies so if you were going to choose...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

I agree. However, I think the criteria in determining whether there is a net benefit should be where the revenue to support those jobs is coming from not how much direct tax revenue is generated. ...

Re: MIT.nano

I think it is a testament to good design that my only complaint is that I wish there were more sight-lines to be able to see it or I wish the surrounding and attached buildings looked nearly as good.

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Yes, job growth and population growth need to be balanced to maintain full employment, but the other possibility is to choose not to grow and level out housing and jobs and aim for replacement...

Re: Summer St. Gondola

Bottom line is that $100 million being required from the developer could best be used to increase the capacity of the Silver line and then some.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

This is what I most agree with and it seems like a reasonable way to move forward and look at is as a refinement of this new design rather than rolling the dice with yet another complete redesign. ...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

well yes... if they want more square footage then just go up a few stories and keep the tower consistent. Tower mid to upper floors of the tower are ok.

But that overhang with the big W...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End
