Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Wow, that's some serious derailment of this topic.

Re: Parcel I | Cambridge Crossing | East Cambridge

It's been said here before that the big park is meant to act as a sponge for excess water, is it possible the smaller parks are for this purpose too?

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

The article is very vague, does anyone know what the "accident" was?

Re: Block L4 | Seaport Square

The cycle is winding down, we aren't getting new large project announcements right and left. I think it's the transition from exciting news daily to discussing what we already know about. I've just...

Re: Amazon HQ2 RFP

Typically would mean the politics and actual laws. Is a bit of a culture shock for northeasterners.

Re: AVA North Point II | Archtone phase II | East Cambridge

They have 6 sq mi. I was thinking Hong Kong kind of desperate.

Re: AVA North Point II | Archtone phase II | East Cambridge

Because many years from now, when Cambridge is desperate for buildable land, this may be very viable. Meanwhile they get to make money while sitting on it.

Re: AVA North Point II | Archtone phase II | East Cambridge

It is however something they won't mind knocking down in 30 years to build something better.

Re: Pier 4 Office Tower | 140 Northern Ave | Seaport

I'm going to guess he's stroking it to the fantasy that logan wasn't there and the seaport wasn't so height restricted.

Re: Mixed Use Complex | 345 Harrison Ave | South End

Call me crazy, but I don't find this as visually offensive as the rest of you. Except those orange panels. Why does anyone think orange is going to look good?

Re: Logan Flight Additions

If LHR starts to hurt, I'd blame all the new london area flights. I think some of the London demand was previously getting diverted through us3 hubs though.

And India is and will continue to be a...

Re: Logan Flight Additions

Boston is a major global city, the international growth we are experiencing right now is just us playing catch up after the US major airlines have ignored us for so long.

And my comments on hub...

Re: Logan Flight Additions

Exactly what existing service though? United to EWR? Good riddance. I hate the hub and spoke model, especially where US airlines don't tend to actually invest in their hubs.

I'm surprised when info discussed on airliners.net doesn't make it over here, so for those who don't go there, we may be getting a route to chengdu from Sichuan soon.

So, right now possible new...

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Tbh, it sort of reveals who's probably guilty of some kind of bad behavior towards the opposite sex because they seriously seem to be fretting that they are next.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Why would wynn resorts change their name when "wynn" is an alteration to the actual family name so it wouldn't sound jewish? As far as I'm concerned it's sort of a stage name.

Re: Open Thread

Re: Real Estate prices

Boston isn't in a bubble. It's a simple case of demand being greater than supply. It's why many of us cheer on dense residential development and tend to favor it over other types of development...

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

It sounds like your example is not excluded in my speculation. Having financing lined up is more important than shovels in the ground when a downturn rolls around.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

No, I don't know that, but I'm looking at the evidence that the economic cycle may peter out in about a year, and that affects large construction projects usually in that money dries up for anything...

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

It's actually a late cycle correction. Any project that isn't fully funded and started in the next year may end up being stalled. But not at this current moment.

Aka I see it as a warning shot.
