Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

This. It represents a lot of things that make my skin crawl. It also wastes water in dry states, and is a complete waste of land in a place like this.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Is there a non-profit out there that simply pays for the fares of those who struggle to make ends meet? You know, help people out and help the mbta patch it's budget holes at the same time?

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I wasn't actually dissing the rooms. It actually has some appeal to me, I'm just saying they're keeping prices down by using space efficiently.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I think you need to do some research on what the citizenM brand is and how big the rooms are. The prices are on the high end for rooms the size of walk-in closets.

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Because the "English" word is literally a word adopted from French in relatively recent history with an anglicized spelling. It's not a word that existed in earlier forms of English.

We for the...

Re: One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

Won't everyone be surprised when 2030 rolls around and electrified heavy rail is still the most effective way of moving people around in urban environments? Hopefully we won't still have to be...

Re: CambridgeSide Office/Lab | First Street | East Cambridge

Good god he pulled out the cringiest NIMBY arguments too. Traffic and shadows? I agree with "more residential" but I think traffic and shadow arguments need to be retired for good.

At this point...

Re: The New Retail Thread

I'm not following this analogy. Horseshoe sales might be down due to there not being a lot of Horses in Cambridge. I'm pretty sure though that there are still men in Cambridge and that they still...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Someone should call out the fact that blocking late night business is prejudiced against those with sleep disorders that give them circadian rhythms not considered "normal". I'm one of those people,...

I don't know about you, but I personally can tell the difference between a maple and an oak but telling the difference between different maples ?????? I'd be lost.

Re: P&G close to deal for Fort Point land next to GE headquarters

Dude, the FAA max is only 300' here. And from what I can tell, nothing has been proposed yet for us to tell whether or not they are going to that max. 300' doesn't tend to meet much opposition when...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

Ummm. Everyone seems to be assuming jobs only happen in Boston. Here in Portsmouth and across the river in Kittery there's more jobs than people. It's not a phenomenon exclusive to Boston.

They've...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

So, I was just going through the 2018 census data for housing permitted.

...We're still building wayyyyyy too little housing. Mass is carrying New England for the most part and they're still not...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

Are you requiring they be headquartered here? That's silly. Every tech major is making a presence of some sort here (except I guess salesforce). Boston proper is not actually all that weak at all in...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

You'd have a point with residential but considering Kendall is more desirable than Boston proper for locating a business I'm pretty sure more expensive commercial space in a tall tower here will have...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

And they should be pushing FAA limits with how hot that area is right now. I'm not saying that out of height fetishism, but rather I'm noting they are not maximizing density here like they should be....

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

Considering how desirable Kendall is and how no one can get enough residential/commercial/lab space there their only option is to build up and they just aren't doing it.

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

The housing and apartment vacancy rate has been lower. Prices and land value aren't so volatile that they'd shoot up to Boston prices in that scenario. There was a while where the housing vacancy...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville
