Re: Open Thread

DM Ed. He's the only one who can do it. I'd been wanting to change mine for years but couldn't get in touch with Briv.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

I can understand it but I sure don't sympathize. Shoulda done their research. It's always silly to me when "first adopters" (especially wealthy ones) complain when the product/experience has flaws....

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

I mean just pay the man to come in and record a few thousand words and phrases. Then he can be the computer voice. Hell they can even record his phonetics and made a computer voice with a facsimile...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Why isn't Oglesby on retainer? Who cares if he's retired pay the man to do voice work once a year or so. Dumbest branding decision was to begin phasing out his voice.

Re: archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

Good point. D'oh!

I also agree with your point about accessibility. Important feedback more websites should heed.

Re: archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

I'd reiterate mod support for Data, Equilibria, Beton, Beeline, and the existing Mods (Statler and Van - anyone else?).

I'm not seeing the ad that people are talking about. Maybe I missed it.

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

I'm guessing that in 10 years Assembly will have MUCH more housing. Look for the Assembly Square shopping center lots to get redeveloped after Assembly Row's buildout is completed. All those parking...

Can you clarify what you're asking? You can only link to Google My Maps. Can't embed.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

I might be wrong, but I think the suggestion was to have BRT on Hyde Park Ave funnel ridership on that corridor to RER-type service at Fairmount or to the Orange Line at Forest Hills. Not to put RER...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Mishawum should be outright deleted. It can't be full-high'd and it gets ZERO ridership. Montvale Ave should get a stop as a replacement. It would have decent bus catchment.

Re: Fantasy T maps

Yeah, except that Volpe is gonna get blown up and redeveloped way faster than the state could imagine planning a Blue Line river crossing and alignment to the north or west

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

If/When GLX-Harvard is ever designed and built, it probably won't have a cross-platform transfer with the Worcester Line. It will be a fare transfer with a stroll of 300'-600'. I don't think we can...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

I don't. They're allowing housing development, which is good. But their master plan (such that it exists) for Cambridge Highlands is a disaster for infrastructure connections...

Re: Simmons University Living and Learning Center | 300 Fenway | Longwood

Probably some impact, but dorms aren't exactly cheaper for the students. Many students could get better rates in the private market.

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

That's a shame, leaving over 1.3 miles without any stops between Porter and Fresh Pond with housing density existing to provide ridership. Walden Street crossing is too close to Porter to try for a...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Adding the "extras" layer to the map, I'm thinking about stop placement on a Watertown branch out of Porter.

Here's my brainstorm:

Porter (subway under Commuter Rail)
Portal west(?) of...

Done. In the menu there are now layers called "Other Transit Concepts" and "Other Transit Concept Stations" that can be toggled on and off. I think I'm at the layer limit for the map now.

To the...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

So, no one (least of all me) is suggesting that this is stuff that should be proposed in bulk. I'm pointing out the possible expansions that are the most reasonable ways to expand the system from...
