Re: HOV lanes vs congestion charges vs autopilot

The MBTA operates as a separate agency- debt for the MBTA is not the same as state debt.

Even if cars are fully autonomous and self driving within 3 years, it would still need to be made a...

Re: Life in the Suburbs vs Brookline

No offense taken at all- I enjoy hearing the opinions of others who disagree with me and enjoy the discussion.

Keep in mind, it's not as though I lived in South Brookline. I lived between...

Life in the Suburbs vs Brookline

So I've been inactive for about a year now... I got a new job, bought a house in Bellingham, had a baby, and got married.

I used to live in Brookline and commute to the Seaport. I timed...

Re: Blue Line extension to Lynn

How about instead of indexing the gas tax to inflation, the state roll back prevailing wage laws?

$37/hour to direct traffic...$90/hour to paint...$47/hour to drive a truck...

Re: Commonwealth Avenue Improvement Project

I'm not sure how often you drive through Comm ave in this area, but the more likely scenario is that one person wants to cross, so they push the button, and then 10+ cars stop and have an...

Re: General Infrastructure

I 100% agree-- that entire interchange is a mess and should have been rebuilt as part of the add-a-lane project over 10 years ago. There is a terrible merge for the C/D for the 3S traffic and then...

Re: North Washington St Bridge

I agree-- this seems to be the biggest driver of traffic issues in that area.

Re: Commonwealth Avenue Improvement Project

Thats rather dramatic-- this is probably from when classes were changing and there is a ton of foot traffic.

Re: General Infrastructure

Aren't all existing employees grandfathered in under the 23 and out plan?

Don't forget that the health insurance obligation is another big driver of costs.

It would be nice to see some...

Re: Lane Reduction on Mass Pike

Who can afford to go out after work every day?

For what I pay for rent + everything else for a single bedroom in a 3 BR apartment now... I could buy a house in the suburbs and have a yard to...

Re: Beacon Hill Civic Association sues to stop installation of sidewalk ramps

Is it even safe for people in wheelchairs to be in such a hilly area?

How many of the buildings in the area are ADA compliant?

Re: Lane Reduction on Mass Pike

There is a lane taken away on the WB side. This is not an auxiliary lane.

From what I understand from coworkers, taking the train is even worse than driving because it's almost the same...

I'd say that's more of the problem in the evening.

Re: Lane Reduction on Mass Pike

Thanks-- this seems like something that could have easily been accomplished earlier in the summer and/or when the ceiling tiles were being removed from the pru tunnel.

Re: The Northeast Expressway, Revere Beach Connector, and geographically related proj

Nice, that'll make it a solid 80 years of deficient highway design.

Re: The Tobin Bridge Thread

I wish they'd do more verification on cars with the orange/discounted transponders. I've seen cars with out of state plates using them and only paying a few cents as well as cars regularly parked in...

Meanwhile- surge pricing provides an incentive for them...
