Re: 22 Water St | North Point Area | Cambridge

That's for real. The viaduct will be extended as part of the Green Line Extension. The tracks come down to grade somewhere between this building and Brick Bottom.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Sad to be losing our only after-hours. But 17 years is a great run.

Anyway, I think this points toward a redevelopment at 306 Stuart. I bet they'll sell the existing building and developers will...

Re: 22 Water St | North Point Area | Cambridge

Just FYI, they are not "uncovering" the facade. The area covered with sheeting has no facade. They are peeling back the sheeting as they install new panels.

Re: Cambridge Developments

Agreed. I always found it strange that Boston was broken up by neighborhood and most of Cambridge was lumped together in one thread with the exception of a few individual projects.

Re: Twenty20 @ Northpoint | 20 Child Street | Cambridge

You'd need a close-up to see it, but between the windows there is this corrugated material that IMO looks terrible. Reminds me of cheap aluminum louvers seen on old HVAC units.

Other than that, it...

Re: Radian (Dainty Dot) | 120 Kingston Street | Chinatown

I walked through the area of the red arch last night and it was HQ for a couple of homeless people. That area is basically screened on three sides, which makes it feel pretty sketchy.

However, the...

Re: CBTC for the T

Software engineer here. I agree with you. Sounds like they have either faulty data (lack of sensors or unreliable sensors) or faulty algorithms. Both are solvable problems.

Re: Mega-Lab in East Cambridge

Pulled these out of the presentation you linked to. This building, 270 3rd street is labeled as residential/housing.

Re: Mega-Lab in East Cambridge

Residential building at Third and Binney. Notice the floors, they appear to be pre-formed concrete. You can see some more sections on the truck to the right side.

Re: Update Planned for Faneuil Hall

Yes, Durgin-Park is still there. And when I went there a few years ago, it was awful. I appreciate the old-timey charm but they are skating by on their history rather than having good food, service,...

Re: Update Planned for Faneuil Hall

I disagree. I think there's an implicit goal here of making the area more accessible to both locals and tourists. Create a more curated mix of local vendors and a few anchor tenants. Create an...

Re: 22 Water St | North Point Area | Cambridge

Just cleaning up the mess. There was all sorts of trash out there like old street lamps and piles of concrete. I think they just want it to look less terrible because Twenty:20 is residential and...

Perhaps I am in the minority, but the title of this thread bothers me. Could we make it just a tad more grammatically correct?

Re: 22 Water St | North Point Area | Cambridge

There will be a 2-story parking garage on the front side of the building. So that concrete wall is going to be the outside wall of the garage. They have been putting up steel inside the garage a...

Re: New Design for Middlesex Courthouse

Thanks for sharing the points about downzoning, not sure if that is what has happened here.

Regarding the use, I think the neighbors are a little concerned about having half a million square feet...

Re: Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I'm not a concrete expert but I would guess this is some sort of test site. Possibly they drilled and patched and the black is a sealant?

Re: New Design for Middlesex Courthouse

I live in the area, but I'm not involved in this battle.

I think the neighbors have a point. This building could never go up today, the zoning is very clear on 80-foot maximum in this part of...

Re: BCEC expansion

Fences are a condition of being able to serve alcohol. Same as restaurants with outdoor seating. Probably a law that should be changed due to pure uselessness.
