Re: One Project, Only One

A redo at city hall/"urban revitalization." I know you could consider this to be 3 different "projects," but...

Why not relocate the sign to be within Fenway Park somewhere?

Re: Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

Are you familiar with Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation? (http://www.archboston.org/community/showthread.php?t=5019&page=5)

Also, developers are more money hungry, I think....

Re: Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

I do have to say, this would look more proportional if it were taller. Right now it looks a little awkward, and some height could even it out. The top looks cut off, almost. As to whether they could...

Re: The New Office Thread

1,000 employees, but they note the move will "simplify" U.S. Operations, while they're also acquiring an Ireland-based pharmaceutical company Shire, who has U.S. Headquarters in Lexington. Will be...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I was not expecting them to make this public, but I must say, this grading system, despite how simple it is, is a pretty good indicator for the public of how bad the behind-the-scenes spaces and...

Re: Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

Manhattanization is when very dense, very tall developments take over the downtown area, making it feel like downtown Manhattan. I don't think Boston has to worry about that.

Regardless of your...

That appears to be a different staircase.

Curved escalators have been installed. (https://twitter.com/EncoreResortBH/status/975763877840478208)

Re: Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

Going through some photos I took over the past month, this building is fun to photograph.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

The practicality of replacing 1000s and 1000s of feet of 3rd rail for slightly better performance is very low, and at such an assumed-high price point, its not high on their priority list. They're...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

I think MIT has plans or envisions a renovated Kendall Station, though I may be wrong. There's no mention of a renovation in their description, but with the new museum they're building, there's a...

Re: Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Eh, the renders made the facade look like it had more of a stone-finish. This looks really synthetic. Will still of course hold judgement until its complete

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The exposed beams by the current North Station entrance are starting to look more complete. The glass behind is also going in. Looks very industrial and hides the rather modern glass behind it. I...

Re: Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downto

It'd be cool to see a cost breakdown for this, seeing as we've come to learn/assume that facade elements with this much detail are really costly. Now that we're seeing it happen here, it'd be nice to...

Re: Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downto

I believe they're newly manufactured. I remember reading something about them using laser scanning to get all the details of the facade before demolition started.

Re: MIT.nano

They executed the "tucked-in" look quite well. Looks like a second (inner) layer to the building that's mostly covered by glass but peaks out at this one spot.

Re: MIT.nano

What's the rationale for the power plant in the center of campus? Those generally tend to be a hidden on-the-side building, as far as I'm concerned. Just your typical engineer practicality>aesthetics...
