Re: Worcester Improvements

No offense DBM but sometimes you need to read what you're posting. Your studies have west Virginia and Kentucky, along with Rhode Island as in better fiscal health than mass. If you believe that...

Re: Flower Exchange Redevelopment | South End

The junkies just need to start calling themselves an "artists colony" and they'll instantaneously become a neighborhood asset instead of a detriment!

Re: Worcester Improvements

I'm always skeptical of giving teams $$$ but can live with this deal if its mostly infrastructure. Would like to know what the projected tax revenues will be from all of this of course. However...

Re: Kenmore Square North

Completely agree. I'm a pro development guy but there's no reason to get rid of that building, especially for the generic shit they're proposing. Yikes.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

I would say its optimistic but not really optimistic. Mind you, the issue isn't whether nor not most people in the region are pulling in 60K, 100K, whatever. The issue is are there enough people in...

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Claiming "rich foreign investors" are leaving condos empty is classic NIMBY boilerplate for their goal of opposing all major developments. Consider the following:

1) There is no actual evidence...

Re: Parcel K | Northern Avenue | Seaport

You're obviously forgetting about the concessions that had to be made to the Concerned Citizens Against Too Large Windows and Avian Anti-Concussion Society groups to win the proper approvals.... ;) ...

Re: Parcel K | Northern Avenue | Seaport

I don't get people's desire for every building to look like the Taj Mahal or some similar quality design. This building isn't fancy and its not offensive. Its just there and sometimes you need that...

Re: BU Development Thread

How would this work out of curiosity? Trying to visualize a new turn lane onto the BU Bridge from Comm Ave westbound, an admitted clusterfuk, going through the academy parking lot and how that...

Re: BU Development Thread

First question that comes to mind is which fairies should be engraved on the wall of the new tower? Other than that detail it sounds like you want the centerpiece from Pitt's campus maybe?

But,...

Re: BU Development Thread

No problem chief. We can exchange insults if you'd like, but I'm not sure I see the point. We're talking about what's on campus and what we'd like to see changed with a bit of history thrown in on...

Re: BU Development Thread

If that was the most ridiculous suggestion you've seen out here over the years, you have a Donald Trump like penchant for exaggeration. My personal preferences are my own, and I think those tire...

Re: BU Development Thread

I have no idea what BU officially does and doesn't think about the tire stores on Comm Ave. Its my own personal preference that they should be gone.

Regarding Brookline, I also recall when the...

Re: BU Development Thread

The school has a billion dollar endowment. Pay their price. Probably the biggest gap in campus in terms of real estate that the school doesn't own.

Re: BU Development Thread

I always thought BU looked better from behind. Only later did I realize that was the point. The campus was supposed to front the park by the river until the state rammed Storrow Drive through it. ...

Re: BU Development Thread

I'd say what BU has done right fairly recently is:

1) West Campus north side of Comm Ave. John Hancock village/Agganis flows with Nickerson Field and dorms there and then over to the lacrosse...

Re: BU Development Thread

I like the theatre don't get me wrong. However I'm talking more like what they did with the John Hancock village which was transformational for that area (the old Armory). In fact the Booth theatre...

Re: BU Development Thread

I remember the school of management expansion talk. I think its just a small expansion that would jut out to some open parcels on Bay State next to the Towers dorm (is it still called that or did...

Re: BU Development Thread

As an alum I think its about time BU does something bold again on campus. Appreciate the little projects and fixer-uppers but they haven't done anything significant since Agganis almost 15 years ago...

Re: Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Is there a heavily populated city in this country that doesn't have traffic problems? Seems the issue isn't specific to Boston or the Seaport.

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium

As there's little available land in the city for this that wouldn't be better used for something else (housing for example), how about Worcester? If they don't win the PawSox, they do have a parcel...

Re: Boston and surrounding areas housing crisis

Interesting. Looked up the 2012 population and it was 625K. Current 2018 estimate is 692K. So that's +67K people for +20K apartments/condos. Not bad but not enough building IMHO.

Re: Temporary Habor Garage discussion thread until project is officially launched

What I liked the best in that article was the comments section. Usually in the Glob its pro-NIMBY, but the CLF and the HT NIMBY's were getting ripped to shreds. Older loons, I mean activists, like...

Re: West Cambridge (Alewife, Acorn Park, Cambridge Park, Fresh Pond)

Too much bleating over the developments in this area. I used to live in Cambridgepark Place right after it opened (really the first residential complex aside from the projects across the street). ...
