Re: Fantasy T maps

I caught this on the Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj episode about public transit. They are using some fantasy MBTA map in the background. It's not mine since it's of the more modern version of the...

Re: Clippership Wharf | East Boston

As bland as those facades are I think this turned out really nice.

Re: Lawrence

As they say, it has good bones. What we are seeing in NY state is more people get driven out of NYC due to cost who are relocating to upstate, Hudson river towns which have spent the last 50 years...

That's bad but will no doubt turn out to be an even worse piece of shit.

Re: Fantasy T maps

The only thing that would have really worked for the Arlington-Lexington stretch was a Mattapan style high speed trolley. The Arlington extension was shot down (among many other infamous reasons)...

Re: Sources for Planned Cities with separated traffic

IIRC Fort Worth, TX had a plan where they would ring the downtown with highways connected to parking garages and then ppl would walk around a pedestrianized downtown.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

It's a shame these studies have to be written into a state budget and not routinely done by a competent planning department.

Re: Chelsea Creek Rails-to-Tollway

At the very least the idea of charging trucks to use a road when there is a free road literally feet away seems like an idea that should have never gotten out of someones mouth. It just sounds like...

Re: Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

IIRC it had something to do with not wanting the flyovers. But I'm sure that was just normal pushback and the state just didn't want to commit the funds.

Re: Chelsea Creek Rails-to-Tollway

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the obvious which is to turn this into a bus only road. You've got half a dozen north shore bus lines running down 1A/60, not to mention the others which end at...

Re: Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

More likely it would just funnel more traffic down them. The Inner Belt just moved traffic around the core but drivers were still trying to get to Cambridge and Back Bay. They still would have used...

Re: Unbuilt railroads

Jeeze, that would have turned Boston into something like Chicago as a sorting hub. Not that Boston would have ever seen the traffic for it.

Re: NYC Architecture and Development

If it was in midtown I wouldn't care but there it really sticks out... not to mention it's a crystal tower for the 1% surrounded by public and low income housing. It's a giant fuck you to the...
