Re: Charlie Card/MBTA Fare Replacement system

In Japan, you can use Apple Pay instead of a Suica card. They get around the need for auth by allowing you to set an “Express Transit Card”. You can also use your default transit card when your phone...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

They also added a banner at the central entrance at Canal St stating that it was for TD Garden access only. I guess they're planning on opening that entrance up soon?

Re: Union Square Redevelopment | Somerville

This would make buses coming to and from Sullivan even more tortured. Not to mention you’d basically be hemming in the folks living between Washington and Somerville even more tightly hemmed in by...

Re: Union Square Redevelopment | Somerville

USQ has since posted neighborhood meeting notes (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ilrfzjo3hfjtr5p/2018_1017_Neighborhood%20Meeting%20%232-%20Lowres.pdf?dl=0) with updated renders. They've broken up the...

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Have there been any updates IRT station designs? I know they're going to be heavily stripped back from what was originally proposed, but did we ever find out HOW stripped back they'd be?

I'm...

Re: Logan Flight Additions

Huh, looks like their flying the inverse of JetBlue's BOS-AUS flights with eastbound in the morning and westbound in the evening.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Might be the lack of wear and tear... also the lack of ads or any signage.

Aside from the lack of open passage between cars... and the super bright colors, these wouldn't be out of place in Hong...

Re: Logan Flight Additions

WN also flies BOS-AUS as does B6.

I would love for BOS-SAT to happen, but I'm not going to hold my breath. With Houston and Dallas a 1 hr hop away and Austin sucking any remaining air out of the...

Re: NorthPoint Cambridge (The one that was train yards, the big plan.)

I think a big justification for it was it'd just be spruced up emergency egress.

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

I doubt most folks really care about what the buildings look like.

Also, given the location (on 93 and the orange line in Somerville) I doubt we really have to worry about it becoming a ghost...

Re: Somerville Developments

At the end of the day, for better or worse, those of us who live in Somerville voted yes on 5 and by a pretty wide margin (though not as large of one as we saw on Q4). Now it's on us to stay involved...

Re: Somerville Developments

So, from what I can gather, the $256 million includes a larger than average contingency fund given the challenges of the site. From what I've heard, the rear of the site is steeper than the...

Re: General Electric HQ | Necco St.| Fort Point

For some reason, it reminds me of the Netherlands Pavilion from Expo 2000.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I guess this means that the new card will have a deposit. Thats how most fare cards with this enabled work, right?

Pretty sure United has, or at least had as Continental, codeshare with Amtrak at some point.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Coffee. I don't think Barrington does anything besides a mocha or dirty chai where you don't control how much sugar. On the Starbucks side of things, their coffee isn't horrible and its basically on...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Meh. I'm glad that there's another lunch option in the area, but in terms of coffee, I much prefer Barrington or Starbucks.

The pastries arent bad, but with Flour right around the corner, it isn't...

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Given Massachusetts, I'm amazed that they didn't vote to delay a vote. I'll put this down in the "Win...?" column.

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Maybe I haven't lived here long enough, but its mind boggling that the state can't figure out to build an up to date, modern transit extension.

I'm a supporter of the GLX, but at the end of the...

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

Anybody know if the bus routes running on Webster and Prospect St near Union Square are going to be rerouted once those streets go two-way? Tried pinging the MBTA, but haven't heard back.

Re: Somerville's Union Square

From the timeline that was posted last March, construction on D2, the plot closest to where the planned station would go, was set to start early 2016. But given the GLX current state, who knows what...
