Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Kind of surprised the people waiting at the stop didn't seem too concerned at all, given how close the train was to the platform.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Dunno, given it's location (kind of have to drive there) I don't know if a brewery is such a good idea.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Wouldn't hurt to build some housing there, spice things up a bit.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Apparently there was a suicide by train last night near the Newtonville CR stop. Don't think there's anything the MBTA can do to prevent this, sadly.

Re: Framingham, MA

Went by the Senior housing being built next to the Natick Mall. Didn't realize they are 62+, that's just silly.

Also what I guess is the hotel has what looks like Fake brick in the lower portion...

Not really in Framingham, but don't want to make a new thread. It's in Maynard of all...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

They don't have to do anything, but Harvard wants the GJ being used they will have to use their clout to get it done. I still think if they don't, the end result will be the Junction being dismantled.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

:30 might be good enough for Harvard though, as a perk to New West Station residents. They can always take B or the Worcester Line if they need additional options. And if anything GJ ends up...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Oh I dunno, Kendall is one of the biggest employers of people who live in Newton/Weston/Wellesley/Natick/Framingham. And they are almost entirely driving. Whether you could convert them to taking...

Re: The Boston "what if" thread

Raytheon will have to move Downtown eventually, but they can resist if they want for awhile. My experience is that they tend to have older workers who have a car. Plus, I'm not sure if 9/80 works if...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Just kind of curious, does (either?) employer offer free parking?

South Side ridership is up quite a bit.

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

I generally agree with what they are implying, but making the non-1A 128 CR stops cheaper at the expense of making outside 128 stops more expensive is not going to go over well, especially since it's...

Re: The New Office Thread

Seems that a lot of the jobs are manufacturing. Can't see them moving those jobs here. Moving all the non-manufacturing jobs into Cambridge would make sense.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

At least some of the riders had the option of taking the commuter rail.

This is one of those days where you should just WFH, if you can of course. Saw a picture of what looked like a ton of...

Re: Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

I'd like to see the USPS parking lots developed, although being so close to the Pike exit it might be hard to build big there.

Re: Riverside Station development

Leasing rates for sure an issue, it's very likely that Riverside Center is at the top end for 128. But it's also pretty nice. If you were interested in only hiring workers who have a car (ie: older)...

Re: Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

The one really nice thing about the Seaport is that they are building actual quality structures there... unlike most of the area where it's basically public housing at 700k/unit.

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Yeah. State is another 15 minutes on the Orange Line; and anything other than that is going to be even longer. So even Lowell riders are looking at least an hour.

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

That spot is too far to be realistic, unless you implement Express trains as mentioned.

The Pheasant Lane site also avoids any long term need to negotiate with NH. You would have to upgrade the...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

South Atteboro kind of works as the de facto stop for residents of the Bucket. It's basically on the state line but is in Massachusetts. Is in a lot of ways similar to the Nashua idea brought up.

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Fairly reasonable, but I think you can only do one more stop max because of time, given that most workers are going to have to transfer to the T to be close enough to get to their job.

The aux...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

I remember hearing that, but I'm looking at the satellite imagery on Google Maps and that isn't realistic at all. Even two tracks with no path would be a tight fit.

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

I don't know you can say that. It's being used by the Commuter Rail now as it is, and you could even run service up there with no modifications, although it wouldn't make sense without a Kendall...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Looking at the render again, it sure looks like the intention is for the platform to be used by Worcester Line trains that will stop there. Don't think that would work with Green at all... maybe...

Re: 112 Shawmut Avenue | South End

I like the look of the existing building a lot, but it's going to look really bizzare once completed. Either they should have just demoed entirely or made the rest of the expansion look at least...
