Re: MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

ugh, I thought this was already approved and a done deal. Never trust in air rights, I guess.

Re: The New Retail Thread

A Bar Filled With Arcade Games Debuts Downtown (https://boston.eater.com/2018/10/11/17958882/versus-arcade-bar-gallery)

First "barcade" in Boston - seems a bit lame on the game list, but, will...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

They will have better acceleration/breaking, though, so at least they will have that going for them.

Re: Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

I wish the Pierce ended up having the verticality of this building - it might be actually not that tall, but, its proportions just make it work so well in my opinion. I will probably get flack for...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Why would you announce the entire map on train cars? Also, as far as I know, all lines currently already announce each stop.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Crazier idea: start looking into and rolling out LCD/screens that can be easily updated whenever anything changes in real time.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I guess - I just really don't consider that in the same realms as city wide mass transit/subway systems.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Yeah I remember that, too. Kind of hope they are still doing it as it would be nice to get visible progress sooner rather than later (and kind of safe guards at least against a hole in the ground for...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Seems to fly in the face of the purpose of public transit, and I can't think of any system world wide that covers itself on fares alone with no subsidies. Also, that would very much hurt the lower...

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Ah, fantastic. I kind of assumed it must have, but I must have missed the official announcement. Guessing we probably have a long way to go to see it going vertical though.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Here is a question - has this actually been officially approved? I know the garage demo was green lit, but what was the new construction actually ready to go?

Re: One Project, Only One

Yeah - it would honestly be NSRL (along with the electrification/etc work needed for it). If not possible I stand by my original silver line pick.

Re: One Project, Only One

Real silver line as it was envisioned - from Dudley (or even Mattapan Square) directly to the airport as rail.

Re: Downtown Crossing

Sure, I just use the cross of Stuart & Tremont as my historical definition of the 'Theater District' - might have not written that very clearly. All the theaters on Lower Washington were well closed...

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Yes - if we are to see any 800'+ built it will be in the Back Bay, not downtown due to Logan.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Maybe "modern" skyscrapper, but certainly not the first. As for height - it might be taller by a few feet, it might be shorter. No one knows. Also, chmeeee, I appreciated the facetious comment :)

Re: North-South Rail Link

If they continue to spend the money they don't have, borrow, and then give it to the shareholders - then, yeah, that is pretty much a kickback to the shareholders, which taxpayers are much more...

Re: North-South Rail Link

Yes, we are the goverment, and that money has already been spent. Unless we are running a surplus (ha) and have generally paid down the national debt, lowering taxes while increasing spending isn't...

Re: San Francisco high-rise sinking, tilting

If it is and does come down, it will probably damage quite a few buildings around it, too.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Err, the Red Line isn't protected to start testing until next year - only the mockups have been delivered.

The full roll out/replacement of the Orange line is scheduled to be completed in...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

I don't think that is true on the Orange, I thought the existing signaling system could easily support 4 minute (if not sub 4 minute), they just simply don't have nearly enough rolling stock at this...
