I've been seeing the new readers on my bus lately (62). So far the most I've seen is 2 near the front door. One right next to the existing fare box (on your right as you board) and one mounted to the pole as you get to the first seat (on the left as you pass). Haven't seen one at a rear door...

I believe so, here is a map I put together from MassDOT documents of the Pike Parcels. I am sure there are errors but it matches up generally with the BU master plan map.
My only thought is that is should be a floor taller but the straight on view where I feel that way won't really be seen from the ground (narrow street) so, OK. Agree, better than a parking garage.
