"Yesterday, the MBTA unveiled plans for Silver Line bus service from the airport in a dedicated lane through the Ted Williams Tunnel that is normally used only by State Police and is not open to the general public."

This is the lane that the Silver Line should have been using all along. Hopefully it will continue after the tunnel reopens.

The State Police have a dedicated lane through the TWT?. What a waste of money, that what blue lights and sirens are for.

Details anyone? The TWT has 4 lanes: 2 west and 2 east? And this is divided into two tubes? Where is the police lane?

If I remember correctly, it is one big tube with traffic flowing in two subdivisions of "tubes" in between is all the maintenence, emergency evacuation routes, and the state police lane

So this lane is in between the two roadways, hidden and separated from traffic? Sounds like a perfect place for a light rail line to me!

Long time lurker, first time poster. The Ted Williams tunnel consists of two steel tubes in one piece submerged in a trench. There is no center emergency tunnel. You can see the arraignment in this photo

The Silver line is using a ramp that enters the area after the I-90 connector and the Ted Williams tunnel in south Boston, that short opening when you?re coming from the pike and right before the TWT (more info at this forum http://www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7517&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=360).
