Not the best day for pictures but I was over there and had my camera on me so I took a few.

When I took this one I couldnt really tell if there was a person inside the crane.

Enlarge it 200% and it looks like he was taking a nap.

Nice photos Bowesst.

This project is going to not only be great for Boylston St, but also for Brookline Ave as well. Being directly across from Landmark Center, it's really going to make this little stretch of street come alive. I think this whole section of Boston has a very bright future.

High-Profile had this in there new issue. Here is a link if somebody wants to see the rendering:
http://www.high-profile.com/

Boston, MA - Boston-based Suffolk Construction Company is maintaining an aggressive schedule with its work on the $200 million Trilogy mixed-use residential complex. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the 970,000 sf development includes three towers of 12, 15 and 17 floors, respectively and will house 576 units.
The complex sits on a 2.2-acre site closely neighboring historic Fenway Park. In development for years, Trilogy is expected to serve as the anchor for the neighborhood?s revitalization. Trilogy holds three necessary ingredients for bringing a more vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood to the Fenway area: re-use of an under utilized site, new retail and new housing for all income levels. The development boasts 42,000 sf of retail space on the first floor, attracting more shopping and restaurants to the area. A below-grade parking garage rounds out the offerings.
Trilogy will also appeal to a wider range of residents: Harvard University purchased 170 of the units to house graduate medical students and 58 units have been designated as affordable housing. A metal and glass curtain wall will accent the exterior precast fa?ade.
The project is the direct result of a Boston Redevelopment Authority five-year planning process that led to new zoning for the area, which will allow continued mixed-use development in the future.

A rigorous 27-month construction schedule will have Trilogy topped off in July 2005 and complete in October 2006.

Nice.

In the far right of that third picture you can see the one story building that will be demolished for this building:

thanks for all the updates, justin.

Thanks for the update. I keep hoping this building will be tall enough to be seen from say..Storrow Drive, but I'm starting to think it is too short to be seen from any significant distance. How tall is it supposed to be?

How many more floors to go? About two or three? The tallest component is supposed to be 17 stories, I believe.

Nice to see N.U. making an impact on the skyline at least.

I think the tallest part is around 13 stories or so now. Its already taller than Landmark Center.

Lots of folks here will be using the T. The walk's not too great either to Fenway or Kenmore.

What makes me so happy about Trilogy is that it makes a real street wall. They brought it as close to the road as possible. They didn't even widen the sidewalks.

Some pictures from Saturday 10/1 -- Thoroughly inspiring.

I wonder if that billboard will stay there. The rear-end of that will make for lovely views for residents on the first 8 or so floors.

Brookline Ave facade.

Boylston Ave facade.

and the backside. A little birdie told me IM loves men (scandalous!)........

Oh it's boring alright. For that matter, every time I see a new building with precast brick panels I get depressed.....

The corner building with the D'Angelos sub shop really needs to go now. Something that anchors that corner the way the Wigglesworth building does downtown would be very nice.

I dont think those are brick pannels. I think they are real bricks. I think the facade looks decent right now and it will look great once they put the glass in.

They should build a tower on that corner. Glass, sleek, 40 or so stories, triangular like the footprint.

That's the top of Parker Hill - commonly known as Mission Hill, so called because of Mission Church which lies at its base. The views from there are awesome. There's also some old apple orchards and other things you would never expect. Very much worth exploring.

Thanks. I'll have to go over there this weekend. How do you get up there? Is it near Parker Hill Ave. or NE Baptist Hospital?

It's near both...in fact, you can take Parker Hill Ave. to the top, where you'll find NE Baptist. There are a couple benches by NE Baptist that have memorable vistas. If you keep walking past the hospital, you'll come to the park at the top.

Upon closer inspection, you are right, Bowesst. I had only taken note of the sides of the panels that would be joined up with others (versus being exposed around windows), which are finished in concrete and gave off the appearance of that hated false brick veneer. Thanks for lifting my spirits up a little, haha.

Yep, Mission Hill. I live right on Sunset Street and posted some pics in another thread from my apt. The views from here are great. It's amazing to see a neighborhood like this one that has changed so much in the last decade (i.e. cleaned up and became much safer). I'll snap some new pics from the top of the hill soon.... not this weekend though because the weather is awful right now. I have some older pics but the quality is not very good.

Is it already gentrified? I often wonder if there are gonna be any neighborhoods with reasonable prices left when I finally enter the job market and want to buy a condo in Boston in... 2013. heh.

There has been a renovation boom going through the hill for sometime now. Every other triple decker is being renovated into condos. In my building, there is a 980 sq. ft., 2/1.5 with dining area apt converted into a condo with new appliances and 2 off-street parking spots for $350k. House itself was built in 1900. This unit itself has no view of anything but the street... there is a back porch though. This same place was being rented out a year ago for $1500 a month before renovation.

Its so BIG! What the area really needs is a tower, or at least a tall building where the D'Agnelos is on the corner there.

I don't know about a tower, but a ten story or so building is now needed where the D'Aangelos is to anchor that corner. I think that the night shot looks great, but Trinity lacks a focal center; if they had put a tower or some other strong focal element the building would have a stronger presence and identity. My only other complaint is the choice of color for the facade facing the Jamicaway. They obviously tried to match the hue of the Landmark Center, but we've ended up with a huge wall of tan there.

What?!?

Build one tall building next to another tall building?!?

That might block people's views. What do you think this is? A city? Wink

Maybe they did that on purpose, anticipating future development on that corner. Maybe they can draw some inspiration from this Smile

No matter what, I'm glad that this area is actually becoming a place, almost an extention of the Back Bay, rather than just some after thought strip.

I heard Hennigan say something about the BRA, like it shouldn't be a separate entity....

Do forumers here think Boston is so sluggish in development to agree with this?

I only disagree when it relates to making sure we keep our history around...

I think there should be a body to make sure we don't turn into a place like Houston, or every-city-USA, but with the politics of Boston that agency will probably always turn into a paper clogged bureaucracy.

Hennigan was more or less saying that we should make the development process more bureaucratic, more succeptable to NIMBYs, more of a pain, more of an economic drain on the city and region, and generally just more of a clusterfuck.
